New Year’s Day Assault Investigation

PRESS RELEASE – Two suspects have been taken into custody regarding a suspected assault that occurred on New Year’s Day in the Defoor Road area.
Upon arrival at a single-car accident on Sunset Drive at 2:45 a.m. yesterday, Jan. 1, deputies found the vehicle to be abandoned and covered in blood.
After a thorough search of the area, a female was located in the woods near Sunset Drive and Davis Road with a laceration to the head and several wounds.
After being transported to the Stephens County Hospital Emergency Room, she was later life-flighted to another medical facility due to the severity of her wounds.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the victim had been involved in a physical altercation with two individuals prior to her car accident.
A female suspect was identified as Veronica Perry, 43 of Toccoa. A male suspect was identified as Mucha Wiley, 47 of Toccoa.
Perry and Wiley have been arrested in association with the incident.
Perry has been charged with Aggravated Battery, and Wiley has been charged with Aggravated Battery FVA. This is still an ongoing and active investigation.
