Two Fugitives Arrested in Eastanollee Following Traffic Stop

STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga. – On October 9, Stephens County law enforcement arrested two wanted fugitives on Thursday afternoon after a traffic stop in Eastanollee, authorities reported.

The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit (CSU), assisted by task force agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the FBI North Georgia Major Offenders Task Force, conducted a traffic stop on a GMC commercial truck on Swilling Road at approximately 1:43 p.m.

Among those arrested was Cody Price, 30, of Westminster, South Carolina, who had been wanted for multiple felony warrants across South Carolina, including by the S.C. Parole & Supervision, Pickens County, Anderson County, and Oconee County Sheriff’s Offices. Price had been evading law enforcement for three years.

Authorities said Price initially gave a false name and date of birth and attempted to flee, prompting a brief foot chase and physical altercation. During the incident, deputies discovered Price carrying several South Carolina identification cards not belonging to him, apparently in an attempt to conceal his identity. He was arrested and transported to the Stephens County Jail. Price faces charges in Georgia for Felony Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer and Giving False Name, Address, or Date of Birth to Law Enforcement, in addition to pending charges in South Carolina, for which extradition is underway.

A follow-up investigation at a residence on Celtic Drive led to the arrest of James Saylors, 48, of Toccoa. Saylors was wanted in Stephens County on two bench warrants and an arrest order for failure to appear in court on multiple felony charges. He was taken into custody and transported to the Stephens County Jail without further incident.

Authorities emphasized that the coordinated operation involved multiple local and federal agencies and thanked the public for their cooperation.
