Woman Arrested for Drug Distribution

PRESS RELEASE – On Wednesday morning, July 16, 2025, deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a blue in color SUV on Brookhaven Circle.

One female was arrested in connection with trafficking illegal narcotics.

At 4:13 a.m., an individual called Stephens County 911 to report suspicious activity in the area of Jenkins Ferry Road and Brookhaven Circle in Martin.

SCSO patrol deputies made contact with the caller, who stated that a female drove into their yard claiming police were chasing her.

While monitoring the area in search of the vehicle, a deputy observed a blue in color Honda CR-V pull swiftly out of a parking lot on Brookhaven Circle and swerve across the lanes multiple times.

The deputy then activated their emergency equipment, and the driver came to a sudden stop in the middle of the roadway.

The deputy made contact with the driver, and additional units arrived on scene.

Deputies requested that the driver stand outside the vehicle.

The driver was later identified as Georgie Dennis, a 53-year-old female who recently moved to Stephens County.

Dennis appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Deputies then observed what appeared to be a homemade smoking device containing residue through the window of the vehicle.

After further investigation, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and located the following items: approximately 15.77 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 1.6 grams of suspected fentanyl, six suspected oxycodone pills, seven grams of suspected marijuana, and packaging material, as well as $6,257 in cash.

Dennis was then placed under arrest and transported to the Stephens County Jail without incident.

She is being charged with three counts of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, three counts of Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana (less than one ounce), Possession of Drug-Related Objects, Driving Under the Influence of Drugs, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

Dennis remains in jail pending a bond hearing.

“Our deputies on the road never know what they may be facing on a traffic stop or when responding to a call of suspicious activity,” said Sheriff Rusty Fulbright. “I would like to thank our patrol units who took the extra step to conduct a thorough investigation. As a result, they removed an impaired driver off the street and did their part to help curb the flow of drug trafficking in Stephens County.”
