Gas Leak at Service Station Prompts Road Closure on Rock Quarry Circle

STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga. – A gas leak reported early Monday morning led to a temporary road closure and service disruption in a portion of Stephens County, according to the Carnes Creek Fire Department.

Shortly after 6 a.m., Stephens County 911 received reports of a gas leak in the 2600 block of Rock Quarry Circle. Firefighters with Carnes Creek Fire Department and deputies with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a significant gas leak coming from a service station located along the roadway. As a safety precaution, firefighters shut down the affected section of the road and requested assistance from the City Gas Department.

Gas Department personnel were able to shut down service to the station and stop the leak until permanent repairs can be completed.

Officials advised that the incident may temporarily affect natural gas customers in the surrounding area while repairs are underway. No injuries were reported.
